A platform lift can be installed more or less anywhere,
even in new buildings. It is particularly suitable
for installation in:
• Private homes;
• Condominiums with limited (medium-low) traffic;
• Commercial buildings;
• Private or public buildings where architectural
barriers have to be overcome;
• Wherever vertical transport is required
but a conventional lift cannot be installed.
The platform lift is similar to a conventional lift
in concept. It comprises a cabin, doors that are
generally manual or semiautomatic, drive machinery
and a control system (for speed, stops, emergencies,
etc.). Maximum installed power is 1.5KW from
a single phase, 230V - 50Hz power supply.
Operation can be manual with man on board (i.e.
the floor selection button has to be pressed and
held until the selected floor is reached) or automatic
(as with a conventional lift) in which case the
cabin must be fitted with an automatic door.
Platform lifts do not need pits but require enough
floor space to contain the dimensions of the cabin
and its frame (from min. 50 mm to max. 200 mm
depending on model). In certain cases a ramp in
front of the ground floor access can provide a
valid alternative solution.
